Denis Igoryevich Yuskov ((ロシア語:Денис Игоревич Юсков); born 11 October 1989 in Moscow, Russia) is a Russian speed skater. He is a two-time gold medalist in men's 1500 meters (2013, 2015) at the World Single Distance Championships.
== Career ==
Yuskov was born in Moscow, but grew up his childhood in Moldova. He then later relocated with his mother back to Moscow.
In the 2006-2007 season, 17 year old Yuskov debuted in the World Cup series at the 1500 meters in the Group B. He then competed at the World Junior Championships, where he finished 11th in the final standings. In February 2008, at the age of 19, Yuskov was disqualified for four years for using marijuana, which Yuskov has denied and challenged. He then stopped training for some years.
In the 2011-2012 season after his suspension was lifted, he returned in the international field by competing at the 2012 European Championship, where he finished in 8th place. Later that year Yuskov competed at the World Single Distance Championships finishing in 6th place in the 1500 meters and 7th place in the 5000 meters. He also won a bronze in the team pursuit along with his compatriots Ivan Skobrev and Yevgeny Lalenkov.
In the 2012-2013 season, he won a World Cup event in Inzell, and on March 21, 2013 he became world champion in men's 1500 meters, 2013 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships held at the Adler Arena in Sochi, updating the track record of 1.46,32. At the 5000 meter and team pursuit, he missed out the podium.
The Olympic season 2013/2014 began Yuskov with a 3.34,37 at the 3000 meter run in a quartet starts during a training race before the first World Cup race of the season. This is the fastest time ever ridden, but is not recognized as an official world record. Yuskov competed at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, however only he only finished 17th in men's 10,000 m, 6th place in 5000 m and 4th in the 1500 meters. In March 2014, at the 2014 World Allround Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen, Yuskov won the 1500 meters and took a new personal record in the 10,000 meters. He came in 3rd in the all around standings earning him the bronze medal. In early April, at the National championships in Chelyabinsk, he won the gold medal in the 500 m, 1500 m, 5000m and 10,000 m. Thus, becoming the new undisputed champion in all-around of Russia.
In the 2014/2015 season, Yuskov competed at the 2015 European Championships winning the All-round bronze and taking the gold in men's 1500 meters. In February 13, 2015, at the 2015 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships, he repeated as gold medalist in 1500 meters.
In 2015/16 Season. Yuskov opened his season winning the 1500 m gold at the 2015–16 ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Calgary, setting a new personal record clocking a time of 1:41.88.〔
